Maya Tihtiyas Attean is an artist residing in Portland, Maine. She grew up on Alnabe Menahan or Indian Island. Her primary mediums are photography and graphic design. She is currently earning her BFA in photography at the Maine College of Art and Design.

Artists Statement:

"In my art I am drawn to natural beauty and all things ethereal. I create photographs that reflect humanity, femininity, and our relationship with our Mother Earth. I try to implore a sense of sentimentality of these fleeting moments we take for granted everyday. Through many different mediums I am able to explore the ever evolving aesthetic of our human nature. I currently create photography in both analog and digital formats. I hope to continue to innovate with my design and develop my creative skills so I can integrate my mediums together in a meaningful way. I plan to explore my passion of photography further in the next coming years, and expand on a portrait project that connects me to my indigenous ancestors. Woliwoni."
